My child played around in the playpen as I was working 12-hour shifts in sanding floors and removing wallpaper. Ha! We were getting closer to completing, however we were a long way off. In this undertaking I had planned to shell out a substantial amount of time and money searching for the perfect home. For my budget to remain sound, I travelled with my 3 boys looking for deals at estate sales. The schedule we had for the week that consisted of spending Friday through Saturday at estate sales and garage sales buying old and new things. I spent the rest of the week painting and sanding on the driveway. What I saw looked something similar to... that's the moment my love for restoring furniture began. Even after our house was furnished I couldn't quit! At the local market I was able to rent a tiny space, and also sold pieces. There were numerous pieces that I did not think of a solution and my storage space was a mess. My home became a place that I hosted open houses, where up to 1,000 people could view the things on my first floor and purchase these items. Growing Days was created in this house. Growing Days was more than an incredibly successful business, but as well my family. The balance between work and family was crucial to me. I wanted to be both a mom as well as a business owner who was successful. Growing Days just seemed to fit. My sweet Nora came into the world in 2013 and was our fourth baby. This was an excellent direction for my business, however, I needed an escape. I decided to put off doing work on my furniture and spend time with my children. At the time, it was exactly what I needed. But after a couple of months off the phone started to ring. Numerous people reached me to ask for advice about home improvement or decorating. The majority of them had been to my home during open houses that were held for furniture. After that, I gradually took on clients in my own way. In the end, I had many clients and I was running as a home improvement business. When you first told me about your home remodeling business I was astonished. It's hilarious to look back about it.
